Position Overview

Are you a passionate and creative person with cooking experience looking to make your mark in a dynamic craft brewery environment? Our small team will allow your culinary expertise to shine! At Category 12 Brewing, you’ll have the opportunity to innovate, lead, and grow within a supportive and enthusiastic environment focused on enhancing our guests’ overall experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Menu Development: Create and develop innovative, seasonal menus that pair seamlessly with our craft beer offerings.
  • Kitchen Management: Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, inventory management, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, train, and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
  • Cost Control: Manage food and labor costs to ensure profitability while maintaining quality and creativity.
  • Supplier Relations: Collaborate with local suppliers to source fresh, high-quality ingredients and incorporate them into menu items.
  • Customer Engagement: Interact with guests to gather feedback, enhance their dining experience, and share knowledge about our food and its origins.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Experience: 2-5 years of professional cooking experience, preferably in a bistro or similar setting.
  • Certification: Food Safe certification.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, recipe development, and kitchen management.
  • Attributes: Excellent communication skills, customer-focused mindset, ability to take direction and feedback, and a passion for food and fermentation.

Preferred:

  • Certification: Red Seal certification.
  • Education: Culinary school background.
  • Experience: Proven track record in managing food and labor costs, and developing new recipes.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary:  $50,000 – $55,000 annually, commensurate with experience, plus tip split (15% tip out to kitchen).
