At Category 12 Brewing, we blend scientific precision with culinary creativity to craft exceptional beers and delicious scratch-made food. Managed by our founders Michael and Karen Kuzyk, our brewery thrives on innovation, quality, and a deep passion for fermentation. Position Overview
Are you a passionate and creative person with cooking experience looking to make your mark in a dynamic craft brewery environment? Our small team will allow your culinary expertise to shine! At Category 12 Brewing, you’ll have the opportunity to innovate and grow within a supportive and enthusiastic environment focused on enhancing our guests’ overall experience.

Key Responsibilities
- Food Preparation & Cooking – Assist in preparing ingredients and executing menu items according to Category 12’s standards, ensuring consistency and quality in every dish.
- Kitchen Organization & Cleanliness – Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace, following all food safety protocols and assisting with dishwashing and end-of-shift cleaning.
- Team Collaboration – Work closely with the Lead Cook and taproom staff to support smooth kitchen operations, adapting to volume demands and maintaining a positive, team-oriented environment.
Qualifications
Required:
- Experience: 1-3 years of professional cooking experience, preferably in a bistro or similar setting.
- Certification: Food Safe certification.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of culinary techniques and recipe development.
- Attributes: Excellent communication skills, customer-focused mindset, ability to take direction and feedback, and a passion for food and fermentation.
Preferred:
- Experience: Proven track record in small kitchens focused on farm-to-table, scratch cooking.
Compensation & Benefits
- $18.50-23.00/hour, commensurate with experience
- Tip split: $6+/hour average. Kitchen is treated like front of house.
